Holotype: BMNH 1975.6.3.1. Paratypes: CFRI Mus. (16); HMSA 1-2 (2 skeletons). •Valid as Serranochromis coulteri (Bell-Cross 1975) -- (Skelton & Teugels 1991:445 [ref. 20962]). •Valid as Sargochromis coulteri (Bell-Cross 1975) -- (Skelton 1993:310 [ref. 24071], Skelton 2001:310 [ref. 27406], Kramer et al. 2016:unnumbered p. [ref. 34331], Skelton 2019:236 [ref. 36564]). Current status: Valid as Sargochromis coulteri (Bell-Cross 1975). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Southwestern Africa: Angola and Namibia. Habitat: freshwater.
