Also appeared as "Mugil curtus Yarell [sic]" in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1836:70, Pl. 311 [ref. 1005]. •Tentatively a synonym of Chelon labrosus (Risso 1827) -- (Trewavas 1973:569 [ref. 7201], Kottelat 1997:157 [ref. 22952], Harrison 2003:17 [ref. 27341]). •Status uncertain -- (Thomson 1997:545 [ref. 23428]). • Questionably a synonym of Mugil cephalus Linnaeus 1758 -- (Kottelat 2013:281 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Uncertain as Mugil cephalus Linnaeus 1758. Mugilidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
