Syntypes: (at least 8, plus parts) BMNH 1848.1.12.79 (1, stuffed), 1856.12.10.21 (1, left half skin), 1861.3.9.1 (4) London market; ZMB 8331 [ex BMNH] (1) England. On p. 5 of separate. Appeared first as above, then in Günther Dec. 1861:455, fig. [ref. 1964]. Based on specimens and on literature sources. •Synonym of Chelon labrosus (Risso 1827) -- (Trewavas 1973:569 [ref. 7201], Kottelat 1997:157 [ref. 22952], Thomson 1997:540 [ref. 23428], Harrison 2003:17 [ref. 27341], Fricke et al. 2007:66 [ref. 29533], Harrison 2016:2086 [ref. 34599]). Current status: Synonym of Chelon labrosus (Risso 1827). Mugilidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
