Name attributable to Schneider, description taken from Forster manuscript (reproduced in Lichtenstein 1844:117-118 [ref. 17531] as "Callionymus acanthorhynchus"). •Valid as Hemerocoetes monopterygius (Schneider 1801) -- (Nelson 1979:589 [ref. 6951], Paulin et al. 1989:217 [ref. 24556], Paulin & Roberts 1992:125 [ref. 24625], Fricke 2002:72 [ref. 26547] with author as Forster, Stewart & Smith 2015:1476 [ref. 34294]). Current status: Valid as Hemerocoetes monopterygius (Schneider 1801). Hemerocoetidae. Distribution: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
