Holotype: USNM 98822. Paratypes: USNM 98822 (1), 98824 (1); ZIN 39126 (1). •Valid as Benthodesmus tuckeri Parin & Becker 1970 -- (Nakamura & Parin 1993:83 [ref. 21769], Heemstra in Smith & Heemstra 1995:xiii [ref. 21953], Randall & Lim in Randall & Lim 2000:643 [ref. 25122], Nakamura & Parin 2001:3718 [ref. 26304], Bray et al. 2006:1763 [ref. 29091], Stewart 2015:1621 [ref. 34196], Fricke et al. 2018:361 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Benthodesmus tuckeri Parin & Becker 1970. Trichiuridae: Aphanopodinae. Distribution: South and East Africa and Madagascar east to New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
