Holotype (unique): BMNH 1864.7.9.4. •Synonym of Pristolepis marginata Jerdon 1849 -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:881 [ref. 20764], Menon 1999:289 [ref. 24904], Rema Devi et al. 2000:440 [ref. 25321], Britz et al. 2012:59 [ref. 32014]). •Valid as Pristolepis malabarica (Günther 1864) -- (Plamoottil 2013:2 [ref. 36795], Plamoottil 2014:554 [ref. 33445], Plamoottil 2017:43 [ref. 35322], Plamoottil & Win 2017:616 [ref. 35480]). Current status: Valid as Pristolepis malabarica (Günther 1864). Pristolepididae. Distribution: Manimala River drainage, Mundakkayam, Kerala, India. Habitat: freshwater.
