Holotype (unique): MNHN A-7764 (dry). Type catalog: Bauchot & Randall 1996:62 [ref. 22195]. Based on 'Licorne à loupe' and 'Naseus, naso ad rostrum connato, tuberiformi' in manuscript description and illustration of Commerson (Philibert Commerson, 1727-1773, French explorer and naturalist).
