Lectotype: ANSP 3833. Paralectotypes: ANSP 3792-99 (8), 3791 (1), 3800-3832 (33). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:35 [ref. 7042], Böhlke 1984:72 [ref. 13621], Gilbert 1998:57-58 [ref. 23395]. Original genus should have been Hypsolepis. Lectotype established by Fowler 1910:284, Pl. 18 (fig. 31) [ref. 19840] but set aside by Opinion 1206 and lectotype designation of Gilbert 1964:137 accepted [specimen now numbered 3833]. •Valid as Notropis cerasinus (Cope 1868) -- (Gilbert 1964:126 [ref. 12397], Gilbert 1978:35 [ref. 7042], Lee et al. 1980:249 [ref. 22416]). •Valid as Luxilus cerasinus (Cope 1868) -- (Meagher & Dowling 1991:979 [ref. 22441], Page & Burr 1991:111 [ref. 18983], Jenkins & Burkhead 1994:369 [ref. 21581], Stauffer et al. 1995:93 [ref. 23376], Gilbert 1998:58 [ref. 23395], Fuller et al. 1999:89 [ref. 25838], Nelson et al. 2004:72 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2005:22 [ref. 28940], Page & Burr 2011:222 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:72 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:71 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Luxilus cerasinus (Cope 1868). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Eastern North America: Virginia and North Carolina (eastern U.S.A.). Habitat: freshwater.
