Described as belonging to subgenus Atractosteus, but listed as above. Also in Rafinesque 1820:75 [ref. 3592]. •Synonym of Atractosteus spatula (Lacepède 1803) -- (Wiley 1976:79 [ref. 7091], Grande 2010:292 [ref. 31167]). Current status: Synonym of Atractosteus spatula (Lacepède 1803). Lepisosteidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
