The described specimen was lost; I recorded ZUMT 7478-79 as syntypes based on external information. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa and Persian Gulf east to Gulf of Thailand, north to southern Korea and southern Japan. Former records from Red Sea and Mediterranean based on S. lessepsianus. Habitat: marine.
