macrolepis, Saurida Tanaka [S.] 1917:39 [Dobutsugaku Zasshi = Zoological Magazine Tokyo v. 29 (no. 340); ref. 17353] Tokyo market, Japan. Neotype: ZUMT 7478. Other specimens: ZUMT 7477 (1, lost), 7479 (1). Type catalog: Aizawa et al. 2022:240 [ref. 39655] as syntypes. The described specimen was lost; I recorded ZUMT 7478-79 as syntypes based on external information. Inoue & Nakabo 2006:391 [ref. 29238] did not accept that and named 7478 as the neotype. •Synonym of Saurida undosquamis (Richardson 1848) -- (Sulak in Whitehead et al. 1984:408 [ref. 13675]). •Valid as Saurida macrolepis Tanaka 1917 -- (Inoue & Nakabo 2006:389 [ref. 29238], Golani & Bogorodsky 2010:61 [ref. 35264], Russell et al. 2015:566 [ref. 33799], Nakae in Kimura et al. 2018:55 [ref. 36460], Yeo et al. 2018:209 [ref. 36438], Eagderi et al. 2019:20 [ref. 37020], Kim et al. 2020:67 [ref. 39118], Sonoyama et al. 2020:24 [ref. 37637], Furuhashi & Motomura 2022:5 [ref. 39868], Furuhashi et al. 2022:[7] [ref. 39778]). Current status: Valid as Saurida macrolepis Tanaka 1917. Synodontidae: Harpadontinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa and Persian Gulf east to Gulf of Thailand, north to southern Korea and southern Japan. Former records from Red Sea and Mediterranean based on S. lessepsianus. Habitat: marine.
