Current status: Valid as Semaprochilodus insignis (Jardine 1841). Prochilodontidae. Distribution: South America: central and western portions of Amazon River basin and tributary rivers (Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
