Holotype: UMMZ 73090. Paratypes: MCZ 32696 [ex USNM 73097] (1); UMMZ 73048 (2), 73091 (4), 73097 (16, now 14); UOMZ 5969-73 (1, 38, 5, 1, 2); USNM 117561 [ex UMMZ 73097] (1). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:51 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:97 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Luxilus chrysocephalus Rafinesque 1820-- (Ross et al. 2001:166 [ref. 25978]). •Synonym of Notropis chrysocephalus (Rafinesque 1820), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Gilbert 1964:167 [ref. 12397], Gilbert 1978:51 [ref. 7042], Robison & Buchanan 1988:208 [ref. 23393], Gilbert 1998:97 [ref. 23395], Scharpf 2005:22 [ref. 28940], Page & Burr 2011:220 [ref. 31215]). Current status: Synonym of Luxilus chrysocephalus Rafinesque 1820. Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Mississippi River basin and Gulf drainages, U.S.A.[subspecies isolepis]. Habitat: freshwater.
