Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:33 [ref. 19236]. •Synonym of Rasbora cephalotaenia (Bleeker 1852), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Yang & Hwang 1964:36 [ref. 13497], Mai 1978:126 [ref. 13511], Kuang in Kuang et al. 1986:40 [ref. 26639], Ye & Song in Pan et al. 1991:68 [ref. 23876], Zhu 1995:25 [ref. 25213]). •Valid as Rasbora steineri Nichols & Pope 1927 -- (Brittan 1954:47 [ref. 646], Zheng et al. 1989:73 [ref. 21202], Chen & Chu in Chen et al. 1998:33 [ref. 23878], Kottelat 2001:37 [ref. 25482], Kottelat 2001:78 [ref. 25780], Liao et al. 2010:166 [ref. 30521], Kottelat 2013:155 [ref. 32989], Zhang et al. 2016:51 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Valid as Rasbora steineri Nichols & Pope 1927. Danionidae: Rasborinae. Distribution: Northeastern Asia. Habitat: freshwater.
