Paralectotypes: MNHL 4200-0257 (6). On p. 142 of reprint in Chevey 1929 [ref. 16215]. Original as paviana but named for Mr. Pavié; emended by Chevey 1932:12 [ref. 23060] to paviei. Kottelat 2005:270 [ref. 28335] indicates that the spelling paviana is acceptable on the basis of it being an adjective (Art. 31.1). •Synonym of Rasbora sumatrana (Bleeker 1852) -- (Brittan 1954:53 [ref. 646], Kottelat 1987:17, 21 [ref. 11434]). •Valid as Rasbora paviei Tirant 1885 -- (Kottelat 1991:185 [ref. 13597], Rainboth 1996:79 [ref. 22772], Kottelat 1998:52 [ref. 23436], Freyhof et al. 2000:95 [ref. 25184], Kottelat 2001:78 [ref. 25780]). •Valid as Rasbora paviana Tirant 1885 -- (Kottelat 2005:267 [ref. 28335], Tan & Kottelat 2009:49 [ref. 30261], Liao et al. 2010:166 [ref. 30521], Kottelat & Tan 2011:217 [ref. 31695], Kottelat 2013:154 [ref. 32989], Lumbantobing 2014:23 [ref. 33163], Kottelat 2015:43 [ref. 33971], Taki et al. 2021:101 [ref. 39830]).
