Lectotype: MSNG 33705 (male). Paralectotypes: MSNG 54297 [ex MSNG 33705] (1); 54298 [ex MSNG 33705] (1, poor condition, Parodontidae sp.). Type catalog: Tortonese 1963:314 [ref. 10351]. Lectotype selected by Koerber & Azpelicueta 2009:56 [ref. 30112]. Appeared later in Weyenbergh 1877:18, Pl. 4 (figs. 17-18) [ref. 14248] -- see Koerber & Azpelicueta 2011:1 [ref. 31158]. •Species inquirenda in Poeciliidae -- (Lucinda in Reis et al. 2003:575 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Jenynsia obscura (Weyenbergh 1877) -- (Koerber & Azpelicueta 2009:54 [ref. 30112], Koerber 2011:7 [ref. 31122], Aguilera et al. 2013:571 [ref. 32916], Koerber 2014:12 [ref. 33621], Mirande & Koerber 2015:53 [ref. 35117], Aguilera et al. 2019:S1 Appendix [ref. 36817], Huber 2019:15 [ref. 36941], Lacoste et al. 2020:[2] [ref. 37834]). Current status: Valid as Jenynsia obscura (Weyenbergh 1877). Anablepidae: Anablepinae. Distribution: South America: Córdoba and Catamarca (Argentina). Habitat: freshwater.
