Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:67 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Nectarges nocturnus Myers & Wade 1942 -- (Pequeño 1989:51 [ref. 14125]). •Valid as Atherinella nocturna (Myers & Wade 1942) -- (Chernoff 1986:245 [ref. 5847], Lavenberg & Chernoff in Fischer et al. 1995:894 [ref. 22829], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:195 [ref. 24555], Dyer 2000:104 [ref. 26677], Barriga Salazar 2014:117 [ref. 35745], Jiménez-Prado et al. 2015:401 [ref. 34894] as nocturana). Current status: Valid as Atherinella nocturna (Myers & Wade 1942). Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific: Ecuador, Peru and northern Chile. Habitat: marine.
