Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; ref. 471] Wellington Harbor [North Island, New Zealand, Cook Strait, southwestern Pacific], 41°16'S, 174°53'E. Neotype: NMNZ P.17737. Neotype designated by Paulin 1993:464 [ref. 20997]. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). Original locality Queen Charlotte Sound, New Zealand. •Valid as Arripis trutta (Forster 1801) -- (Paulin et al. 1989:189 [ref. 24556], Paulin 1993:462 [ref. 20997], Kuiter 1993:181 [ref. 23929], Francis 1993:161 [ref. 25479], Gomon et al. 1994:594 [ref. 22532], Duffy & Petherick 1999:565 [ref. 24248], Hutchins 2001:3304 [ref. 26125], Bray et al. 2006:1329 [ref. 29091], Gomon 2008:597 [ref. 30616], Duffy & Ahyong 2015:115 [ref. 36167], Trnski & Roberts 2015:1332 [ref. 34203]). Current status: Valid as Arripis trutta (Forster 1801). Arripidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: eastern Australia, New Zealand, Kermadec Islands. Habitat: brackish, marine.
