alticeps, Nemachilus Herzenstein [S. M.] 1888:28, Pl. 6 (fig. 3) [Zoologischer Theil, St. Petersburg v. 3 (2 abt.) (1); ref. 2147] Fontes Zaidam [Tsaidam or Quaidam] oriental, China. Lectotype: ZIN 7852. Paralectotypes: ZIN 7255 (12, 1 c&s) and 7852 (now 3); BMNH 1891.10.7.32 [ex ZIN 7255] (1). Original genus is correctly Nemacheilus. Lectotype selected by Prokofiev 2006:Engl. 599 [ref. 28811] •Questionably the same as Triplophysa cakaensis Cao & Zhu 1988 -- (Zhu 1989:120 [ref. 17744]). •Valid as Triplophysa alticeps (Herzenstein 1888) -- (Zhu 1989:124 [ref. 17744], Wu & Wu 1992:261 [ref. 21205], Zhu 1995:119 [ref. 25213], Prokofiev 2006:598 [ref. 28811], Prokofiev 2006:255 [ref. 29061], Prokofiev 2010:907 [ref. 31096], Zhang et al. 2016:135 [ref. 34477], Feng et al. 2020:468 [ref. 37576]). •Valid as Qinghaichthys alticeps (Herzentstein 1888) -- (Kottelat 2012:103 [ref. 32367]). Current status: Valid as Triplophysa alticeps (Herzenstein 1888). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Quaidam and Quighai drainages, China. Habitat: freshwater.
