Holotype (unique): RMNH 5617. Available from plate published in 1872 with name as above; corresponding text p. 105 appeared in 1876 where Bleeker placed octolineata in the synonymy of Paramia macrodon Bleeker. •Synonym of Cheilodipterus macrodon (Lacepède 1802) -- (Gon 1993:30 [ref. 21133], T. Fraser, pers. comm. 9/2000, Mabuchi et al. 2014:198 [ref. 33426]). Current status: Synonym of Cheilodipterus macrodon (Lacepède 1802). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Habitat: marine.
