Lond. 104 (right half-skin). Type information: Goode & Bean 1885:198 [ref. 1841], Wheeler 1985:59 [ref. 20705]. Based on 'Porgee' in manuscript description, and 1 specimen sent by A. Garden [South Carolina]. Misspelled chrisops (and misidentified) by Cabrera y Corro, Pérez & Hänseler 1817:5 [ref. 17319], see Graells 1887:179 [ref. 30438]. •Valid as Stenotomus chrysops (Linnaeus 1766) -- (Smith 1986:430 [ref. 22186], Robins & Ray 1986:184 [ref. 23100], McAllister 1990:150 [ref. 14674], Murdy et al. 1997:231 [ref. 23144], Klein-MacPhee in Collette & Klein-MacPhee 2002:43 [ref. 26158], Carpenter 2003:1577 [ref. 27092], Nelson et al. 2004:146 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:150 [ref. 32708], Raz-Guzmán et al. 2018:346 [ref. 36407], Parenti 2019:67 [ref. 36892]). Current status: Valid as Stenotomus chrysops (Linnaeus 1766). Sparidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Nova Scotia (Canada) south to Florida (U.S.A.). Habitat: marine.
