Current status: Valid as Girella leonina (Richardson 1846). Girellidae. Distribution: Western and central Pacific: South China Sea to Korea, northern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, including Sea of Japan; waifs at Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.). Habitat: marine.
