Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Gulf of Aden, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes (Rodrigues) east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
