Misspelled stampfli by Pellegrin 1921:636 [ref. 30437], also erroneously in Hemiramphus. •Valid as Citharichthys stampflii (Steindachner 1894) -- (Desoutter 1986:428 [ref. 6212], Aldebert et al. 1990:1033 [ref. 19526], Desoutter in Lévêque et al. 1992:858 [ref. 21590], Poll & Gosse 1995:79 [ref. 24781], Vreven 2007:590 [ref. 30080], Wirtz et al. 2013:135 [ref. 32972], Munroe in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2998 [ref. 34618], Reiner 2019:293 [ref. 38139], Skelton 2019:228 [ref. 36564], Fermon et al. 2022:231 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Citharichthys stampflii (Steindachner 1894). Cyclopsettidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Senegal south to Angola, including Cape Verde Islands, São Tomé and Principe. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
