Neotype designated by Zengeya et al. 2013:1732 [ref. 32575]. •Synonym of Hepsetus odoe (Bloch 1794) -- (Roberts 1984:138 [ref. 6182]). •Valid as Hepsetus cuvieri (Castelnau 1861) -- (Zengeya et al. 2011:1724, 1732 [ref. 32575], Decru et al. 2015:284 [ref. 34058], Decru et al. 2017:625 [ref. 35508], Bruton et al. 2018:62 [ref. 36373], Skelton 2019:233 [ref. 36564], Decru 2024:370 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Hepsetus cuvieri (Castelnau 1861). Hepsetidae. Distribution: Southern Africa: Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo. Habitat: freshwater.
