Lectotype: ZMUC P2318799. Paralectotypes: (31, but only 1 can be identified) ZMUC P2318800 (1). Type catalog: Post 1972:143 [ref. 20860], Nielsen 1974:34 [ref. 9588] with more paratypes at ZMUC but not identifiable. Lectotype designated by Post 1972:143 [ref. 20860]. •Synonym of Lestidiops jayakari (Boulenger 1889), but a valid subspecies -- (Post 1973:207 [ref. 7182], Post 1990:376 [ref. 15233]). •Synonym of Lestidiops jayakari (Boulenger 1889), but a valid subspecies -- (Fukui & Ozawa 2004:293 [ref. 28076]). •Valid as Lestidiops jayakari pseudosphyraenoides (Ege 1918) -- (Russell 2016:1847 [ref. 34572], Carneiro et al. 2019:110 [ref. 37250], Sutton et al. 2020:143 [ref. 37832], Kovačić et al. 2021:26 [ref. 39014]). Current status: Valid as Lestidiops pseudosphyraenoides (Ege 1918). Paralepididae. Distribution: Mediterranean Sea; northeastern Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
