Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: Aliwal Shoal (South Africa), East Africa and Socotra (Yemen) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.), north to Sea of Japan (Korea, Japan), south to Australia, New Zealand, Kermadec Islands and east to Rapa and French Polynesia [true evides may be restricted to Japan and Taiwan [ref. 31103]]. Habitat: marine.
