nouhuysi, Atherinichthys Weber [M.] 1910:229 [Notes from the Leyden Museum v. 32 (pt. 4) (art. 28); ref. 14597] Bibis River, western New Guinea. Lectotype: ZMA 103175. Paralectotypes: AMNH 9577 [ex ZMA 103176] (1); AMS I.17319-001 [ex ZMA 103176] (?2, 1 c&s); FMNH 52500 [ex CM 758] (2); ZMA 103176 (orig. 12, now 10), 103177-81 (1, 8, 1, 1, 9). Type catalog: Hoedeman 1960:212 [ref. 19258], Nijssen et al. 1982:72 [ref. 19236], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:14 [ref. 12367]. Lectotype technically was not established by Hoedeman 1960:212 [ref. 19258] by recognizing a holotype (specimen figured in Weber 1913, fig, 26 [ref. 4603]) when there were other syntypes. •Valid as Craterocephalus nouhuysi (Weber 1910) -- (Allen 1991:104 [ref. 21090], Crowley et al. 1991:42 [ref. 16645], Crowley & Ivantsoff 1992:275 [ref. 20015], Crowley et al. 1995:325 [ref. 22579], Allen et al. 2000:70 [ref. 27467], Allen et al. 2008:85 [ref. 30265], Ivantsoff & Allen 2011:50 [ref. 31135]). Current status: Valid as Craterocephalus nouhuysi (Weber 1910). Atherinidae: Craterocephalinae. Distribution: New Guinea (Papua Province, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea). Habitat: freshwater.
