Paratypes: FMRI F166 (2); SMF 11004 (1). •Synonym of Helcogramma obtusirostre (Klunzinger 1871) -- (Fricke 1997:579 [ref. 23339]). •Synonym of Helcogramma obtusirostris (Klunzinger 1871) -- (Hansen 1986:341 [ref. 5810], Holleman & Bogorodsky 2012:54 [ref. 31735]). •Valid as Helcogramma shinglensis Lal Mohan 1971 -- (Holleman 2007:74 [ref. 29195], Fricke 2009:51 [ref. 30394], Patzner et al. 2009:447 [ref. 30396], Holleman 2022:428 [ref. 39961]). Current status: Valid as Helcogramma shinglensis Lal Mohan 1971. Tripterygiidae: Tripterygiinae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: Gulf of Mannar (southern India) and Sri Lanka. Habitat: marine.
