Current status: Valid as Cathorops kailolae Marceniuk & Betancur-R. 2008. Ariidae: Ariinae. Distribution: Southern North America, Central America: Lake Izabal basin (Guatemala) and Usumacinta River basin (Mexico and Guatemala). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
