Paratypes: MNRJ 40727 (4); MZUSP 111239 (5, 1 C&S), 112385 (9, 1 mol.); UFBA 5726 (3), 5971 (9, 2 C&S), 7258 (5), 7259 (7). •Valid as Characidium samurai Zanata & Camelier 2014 -- (Zanata & Ohara 2015:374 [ref. 33970], Zanata & Camelier 2015:497 [ref. 33983], Zanata et al. 2015:381 [ref. 34023], Zanata et al. 2018:84 [ref. 36279], Silva et al. 2020:7 [ref. 37809]). Current status: Valid as Characidium samurai Zanata & Camelier 2014. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: South America: Rio das Almas basin (Bahia State, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
