Holotype: UFRJ 11764. Paratypes: CICCAA, MNRJ, UFRJ. •Valid as 'Geophagus' multiocellus Mattos & Costa 2018 -- (Argolo et al. 2020:4 [ref. 37561]). •Valid as Geophagus multiocellus Mattos & Costa 2018 -- (Silva et al. 2020:15 [ref. 37809]). Current status: Valid as Geophagus multiocellus Mattos & Costa 2018. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: Middle Rio de Contas basin (Bahia State, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
