Holotype (unique): ZIN 45302. Non-types, not mentioned in original description: ZIN 45303 (1). May use Synchiropus or Foetorepus; authors differ. •Synonym of Synchiropus agassizii (Goode & Bean 1888) -- (Davis & Fricke 1990:923 [ref. 19375] as agassizi). •Valid as Foetorepus valdiviae (Trunov 1981) -- (Nakabo & Hartel 1999:114 [ref. 23704]). •Valid as Synchiropus valdiviae (Trunov 1981) -- (Fricke 2002:67 [ref. 26547], Anderson et al. 2005:28 [ref. 28396], Fricke in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2823 [ref. 34618]). Current status: Valid as Synchiropus valdiviae (Trunov 1981). Callionymidae. Distribution: Walvis Ridge and Tristan da Cunha, southeastern Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
