Paratypes: AMS I.15682-022 (1); BMNH 1979.1.9.37-38 (2), 1979.1.9.39-40 (2); BPBM 22523 (1); MHNG 2023.69 (1); USNM 219403 (1). •Valid as Pseudochromis veliferus Lubbock 1980 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:521 [ref. 12442], Gill 1999:2567 [ref. 24817]). •Valid as Ogilbyina velifera (Lubbock 1980) -- (Randall et al. 1990:126 [ref. 15987], Allen 1997:96 [ref. 23977], Kuiter 1997:124 [ref. 25488], Randall et al. 1997:126 [ref. 25919]). •Valid as Oxycercichthys veliferus (Lubbock 1980) -- (Gill 2004:52 [ref. 27767], Gill et al. 2006:1066 [ref. 29084]). Current status: Valid as Oxycercichthys veliferus (Lubbock 1980). Pseudochromidae: Pseudochrominae. Distribution: Eastern Australia. Habitat: marine.
