Also spelled macclellandi (see Paxton et al. 1989:306 [ref. 12442]) and often misspelled (see Bailly & Hureau 1995 [ref. 22102]). Thompson made the description from one specimen, which would be the holotype, unless the second specimen was the subject of the illustration; he did not have available Cantor's manuscript that apparently was based on two specimens.
