Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1984:13 [ref. 19232]. New name for Scorpaena vaigiensis Quoy & Gaimard 1824. Spelling as scorpenoides was the original spelling. Original genus should have been Centropristis. •Objective synonym of Centrogenys vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1824) -- (Leis & Trnski 1999:413 [ref. 24201], Hoese 2006:1036 [ref. 28998]). Current status: Synonym of Centrogenys vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1824). Centrogenyidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.

Reasons for loss of ZSI type specimens during WWII see Chopra 1947:349-350 [ref. 33077]. •Synonym of Centrogenys vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1824). Current status: Synonym of Centrogenys vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1824). Centrogenyidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
