Current status: Valid as Dichichthys albimarginatus (Séret & Last 2007). Dichichthyidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: New Caledonia and possibly northern Papua New Guinea. R.] 2007:32, Figs. 6-7 [Zootaxa No. 1657; ref. 29377] South of Saumarez Plateau, 22°56'S, 154°21'E, Queensland, Australia, depth 590-606 meters. Current status: Valid as Dichichthys bigus (Séret & Last 2007). Dichichthyidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Coral Sea. Habitat: marine. melanobranchus, Dichichthys Chan [W. L.] 1966:226, Figs. 2-3; Pl. 1b [Journal of Zoology (London) v. 148; ref. 806] South China Sea, about 135 miles south-southeast of Hong Kong, 20°05'N, 115°03'E, depth 300 fathoms. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1965.8.11.6. The correct spelling is melanobranchus. •Valid as Parmaturus melanobranchius [sic] (Chan 1966) -- (Compagno 1984:341 [ref. 6846], Compagno & Niem 1998:1291 [ref. 23787], Compagno 1999:480 [ref. 25589], Shinohara et al. 2005:393 [ref. 28370]). •Valid as Parmaturus melanobranchus (Chan 1966) -- (Compagno in Randall & Lim 2000:579 [ref. 25122], Séret & Last 2007:23 [ref. 29377], Hsu et al. 2013:252 [ref. 33043], Ebert et al. 2013:320 [ref. 33045], Weigmann 2016:41 [ref. 34211], Fahmi & Ebert 2018:540 [ref. 35910]). •Valid as Dichichthys melanobranchus Chan 1966 -- (White et al. 2024:21 [ref. 40986]). Distribution: Western Pacific: South China Sea, Hong Kong, Taiwan Strait, Philippines and Ryukyu Islands, southern Japan. Habitat: marine. nigripalatum, Parmaturus Fahmi [no initials] & Ebert [D. A.] 2018:533, Figs. 2-6 [Zootaxa 4413 (no. 3); ref. 35910] South of Sumbawa, Indonesia, 9.04°S, 117.92°E; depth 170-190 meters. Holotype (unique): NCIP 6567. •Valid as Parmaturus nigripalatum Fahmi & Ebert 2018. •Valid as Dichichthys nigripalatum (Fahmi & Ebert 2018) -- (White et al. 2024:29 [ref. 40986]). Current status: Valid as Dichichthys nigripalatum (Fahmi & Ebert 2018). Dichichthyidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Indonesia. Habitat: marine. piceus, Figaro Chu [Y.-T.], Meng [Q.-W.] & Liu [J.-X.] 1983:104 (English p. 107), Figs. 1-2 [Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica v. 8 (no. 1); ref. 8358] South China Sea, 19°40'N, 115°E, depth 810 meters. Holotype: SCSFRI A89.
