The name has not been used as a valid name after 1899 and is therefore a nomen oblitum; precedence over Cheilodipterus butis Hamilton 1822 is therefore reversed according to ICZN Art. 23.9.1.1. •Kottelat 2013:390 [ref. 32989] dies not feel this is a gobioid; he suggests it is a Siniperca (Percichthyidae).
