Holotype (unique): MCZ 28427. •Valid as Paraconger dentatus (Garman 1899) -- (Raju 1985:8 [ref. 5287]). •Valid as Chiloconger dentatus (Garman 1899) -- (Grove & Lavenberg 1997:179 [ref. 24023], Smith & Karmovskaya 2003:2 [ref. 27189], Nelson et al. 2004:64 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:22 [ref. 37547], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:188 [ref. 30957], Page et al. 2013:64 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:38 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:56 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Chiloconger dentatus (Garman 1899). Congridae: Bathymyrinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Colombia, including southern and central Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.

Paratypes: MNHN 1998-0666 (1), 2002-3730 (4). •Valid as Chiloconger philippinensis Smith & Karmovskaya 2003 -- (Karmovskaya 2004:S2 [ref. 28053]). Current status: Valid as Chiloconger philippinensis Smith & Karmovskaya 2003. Congridae: Bathymyrinae. Distribution: South China Sea. Habitat: marine.
