Species related to Chiloscyllium punctatum: [ 3 ] records

russelii, Scylia Billberg [G. J.] 1833:51 [Linnéska Samfundets Handlingar v. 1 (for 1832); ref. 34146] Vizagapatnam, India. No types known. Based on the "Boku Sorsa" [sic, should have been "Bokee sorrah"] of Russell 1803, v. 1:10, Pl.16 [ref. 13862]; see Kullander 2016:112 [ref. 34147]. Not used as valid after 1899; therefore reversal of priority in favor of Chiloscyllium punctatum Müller & Henle 1838 is followed (ICZN Art. 23.9). Named for Russell (mispelled as Russel), an inadvertent error that must be corrected, Code Art. 32.5.1. •Possibly a synonym of Chiloscyllium punctatum Müller & Henle 1838 -- (Kullander 2016:112 [ref. 34147]). Current status: Synonym of Chiloscyllium punctatum Müller & Henle 1838. Hemiscylliidae. Habitat: marine.

punctatum, Chiloscyllium Müller [J.] & Henle [F. G. J.] (ex Kuhl & van Hasselt) 1838:18, [Pl. 3] [Systematische Beschreibung der Plagiostomen; ref. 3069] Off Jakarta, Java, Indonesia. Neotype: AMNH 38153. Scyllium punctatum Kuhl & van Hasselt as name only mentioned in synonymy. Neotype designated by Dingerkus & DeFino 1983:30 [ref. 5386]. Scylia russelii Billberg 1833 is probably a senior synonym; Chiloscyllium punctatum is in prevailing usage and therefore here treated as the valid name. •Valid as Chiloscyllium punctatum Müller & Henle 1838 -- (Dingerkus & DeFino 1983:30 [ref. 5386], Compagno 1984:194 [ref. 6474], Nakaya & Shirai in Masuda et al. 1984:8 [ref. 6441], Allen & Swainston 1988:20 [ref. 25477], Gubanov & Timoxin 1989:221 [ref. 36138], Paxton et al. 1989:89 [ref. 12442], Kharin 1987:367 [ref. 6227], Randall et al. 1990:14 [ref. 15987], Last & Stevens 1994:135 [ref. 23873], Mohsin & Ambak 1996:55 [ref. 27969], Allen 1997:40 [ref. 23977], Larson & Williams 1997:343 [ref. 23967], Randall et al. 1997:14 [ref. 25919], Compagno & Niem 1998:1254 [ref. 23787], Johnson 1999:720 [ref. 25471], Compagno 1999:476 [ref. 25589], Nakabo 2000:120 [ref. 25086], Compagno in Randall & Lim 2000:578 [ref. 25122], Hutchins 2001:13 [ref. 25847], Compagno 2001:175 [ref. 26323], Goto 2001:82 [ref. 25912], Nakabo 2002:120 [ref. 26001], Allen & Adrim 2003:21 [ref. 26830], Adrim et al. 2004:118 [ref. 27715], Hoese et al. 2006:123 [ref. 29001], Compagno et al. 2005:21 [ref. 29145], Kimura 2009:7 [ref. 30426], Motomura et al. 2010:68 [ref. 31256], Last el al. 2010:53 [ref. 32461], Weigmann 2012:11 [ref. 31968], Allen & Erdmann 2012:48 [ref. 31980], Naylor et al. 2012:52 [ref. 32267] see remarks, Larson et al. 2013:14 [ref. 32988], Ebert et al. 2013:305 [ref. 33045], Yoshida et al. 2013:8 [ref. 34464], Fricke et al. 2014:13 [ref. 33932], Weigmann 2016:9 [ref. 34211], Koeda et al. 2016:4 [ref. 35333], Kumar et al. 2018:295 [ref. 36178], White et al. 2018:70 [ref. 35860], White & Ko'ou 2018:18 [ref. 35922], Habib & Islam 2020:Supplementary table p. 1 [ref. 38321], Psomadakis et al. 2020:166 [ref. 37272], Sonoyama et al. 2020:8 [ref. 37637], Haroon & Kibria 2021:44 [ref. 39241], Human 2022:457 [ref. 39664], Hsu et al. 2022:3 [ref. 39567]).
