Type catalog: Collette et al. 1992:8 [ref. 19410]. •Valid as Chriodorus atherinoides Goode & Bean 1882 -- (Robins & Ray 1986:101 [ref. 23100], Collette et al. 1992:8 [ref. 19410], McEachran & Fechhelm 1998:957 [ref. 23897], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:208 [ref. 24550], Collette 2003:1143 [ref. 26981], Collette 2004:2 [ref. 27583], Nelson et al. 2004:100 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:102 [ref. 32708], Collette & Bemis 2019:93 [ref. 37342]). Current status: Valid as Chriodorus atherinoides Goode & Bean 1882. Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: southern Florida south through the Florida Keys, to the Bahamas, Cuba, Campeche and Yucatán, Mexico, and Belize. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
