Type catalog: Lasso et al. 1999:111 [ref. 33859]. •Mention -- (Thacker & Cole 2002:838 [ref. 26548] as venezulae). •Valid as Coryphopterus venezuelae Cervigón 1966 -- (Cervigón 1994:165 [ref. 24488], Baldwin et al. 2009:121 [ref. 30559] with expanded range, Van Tassell 2011:141 [ref. 31732], Smith-Vaniz & Collette 2013:181 [ref. 32953], Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:77 [ref. 33341], Baldwin & Robertson 2015:139 [ref. 33884], Robertson et al. 2020:154 [ref. 38098], Parenti 2021:121 [ref. 38603], Bennema & van Moorsel 2022:72 [ref. 39585]). Current status: Valid as Coryphopterus venezuelae Cervigón 1966. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: southern Caribbean Sea (Venezuela) and offshore islands. Habitat: marine.
