Syntypes: (2) MNHN 0000-2119 (1). Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1993:107 [ref. 20810] as holotype (original as deux individus conservés); so there are syntypes and no holotype. •The same as specimens from Japan identified as Ichthyapus vullturis Weber & de Beaufort 1916 -- (see McCosker 2004:172 [ref. 27619]). •Valid as Ichthyapus acutirostris Brisout de Barneville 1847 -- (McCosker & Randall 2005:7 [ref. 28054], Randall 2007:66 [ref. 30952]).
