Current status: Valid as Letharchus aliculatus McCosker 1974. Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bermuda and North Carolina (U.S.A.) south to Espíritu Santo (Brazil). Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 61, p. 3244 in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446]; also designated by McCosker et al.1989:317 [ref. 13288].
