Habitat: marine.

Apparently an unjustified emendation of or misspelling of Novaculichthys taeniourus (Lacepède 1801). Original genus should have been Xyrichtys. •In the synonymy of Novaculichthys taeniourus (Lacepède 1801). Misspelling. Current status: Synonym of Novaculichthys taeniourus (Lacepède 1801). Labridae.
