Possible types: ZMB 1479 (1). Type catalog: Paepke 1999:53 [ref. 24282]. On p. 46 of Bloch's Ichthyologie, v. 10 [ref. 21381]. •Questionably a synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793) -- (Smith-Vaniz & Staiger 1973:218 [ref. 7106]). •Valid as Oligoplites calcar (Bloch 1793) -- (Paepke 1999:53 [ref. 24282]). •Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793) -- (W. Smith-Vaniz, 13 July 2004). Current status: Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793). Carangidae: Scomberoidinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.

Current status: Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793). Carangidae: Scomberoidinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.

saltator, Scomberoides Lacepède [B. G. E.] (ex Plumier) 1801:50, 55 [Histoire naturelle des poissons (Lacepède) v. 3; ref. 2710] No locality [Antilles, western Atlantic]. No types known. Type catalog: Smith-Vaniz et al. 1979:40 [ref. 12247]. Apparently described independently of Scomber saliens Bloch 1793, but based on the same source. Illustrated on Pl. 19 (fig. 2) of v. 2, 1800 [ref. 2709], but with vernacular name. Based on 'Pelamis minima, vulgo sauteur' in manuscript by Plumier (Charles Plumier, 1646-1704, French explorer and botanist). Also appeared in Sonnini 1803:387, 392 (vol. 7) [ref. 30473]. •Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793) -- (Smith-Vaniz & Staiger 1973:218 [ref. 7106]). Current status: Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793). Carangidae: Scomberoidinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
