Holotype: SIO 65-620. Paratypes: SIO 65-185 (4), 65-263 (8), 65-343 (8). •Valid as Opistognathus fossoris Bussing & Lavenberg 2003 -- (Page et al. 2013:134 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:150 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Opistognathus fossoris Bussing & Lavenberg 2003. Opistognathidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
