Holotype (unique): ZSM [old collection] destroyed in WWII. Type catalog: Neumann 2006:276 [ref. 28925]. Species originally spelled as above, but changed to schryi when species was illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1902:115, Pl. 4 (fig. 1) [ref. 10435]. •Valid as Pomadasys schyri Steindachner 1900 -- (Ovchynnyk 1967:41 [ref. 37559]). •Valid as Pomadasys schyrii Steindachner 1900 -- (Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:379 [ref. 24555], Barriga Salazar 2014:118 [ref. 35745], Jiménez-Prado et al. 2015:394 [ref. 34894], Parenti 2019:171 [ref. 37021]). Current status: Valid as Pomadasys schyrii Steindachner 1900. Haemulidae: Haemulinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Ecuador south to Peru. Habitat: marine.
