Current status: Valid as Pontinus vaughani Barnhart & Hubbs 1946. Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of central Baja California (Mexico) south to Peru, including southwestern Gulf of California (Mexico) and Revillagigedo Islands (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
