Type catalog: Bauchot 1970:32-33 [ref. 20740]. Name was spelled ocellutus on Pl. 271. •Synonym of Pteraclis veliferum (Pallas 1770) -- (Mead 1972:118 [ref. 6976] as velifera, Smith 1986:634 [ref. 5712] as velifera, Anderson 2022:22 [ref. 39875] as velifera). Lectotype: RMNH (whereabouts unknown). Lectotype selected by Fricke 1999:263 [ref. 24106] as the specimen shown in the original figure (Pl. 3, fig. 1) in Pallas. Based on a specimen in RMNH, and on illustrations by Ruysch, Valentyn and Renard.
