Holotype (unique): MNHN 1942-0028. Type catalog: Bauchot 1967:56 [ref. 20734]. Originally as sinus californici. •Valid as Stathmonotus sinuscalifornici (Chabanaud 1942) -- (Hastings & Springer 1994:25 [ref. 21894], Allen & Robertson 1994:250 [ref. 22193], Hastings in Fischer et al. 1995:999 [ref. 22829], Thomson et al. 2000:216 [ref. 25640], Hastings & Springer 2002:544 [ref. 26375], Nelson et al. 2004:166 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:157 [ref. 37547], Patzner et al. 2009:471 [ref. 30396], Page et al. 2013:172 [ref. 32708], Kim & Hastings 2013:8 [ref. 33286] in Labrisomidae, Love et al. 2021:201 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Stathmonotus sinuscalifornici (Chabanaud 1942). Labrisomidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico), and Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
